The City of Port Aransas is accepting applications for Election Judge and Election Clerks for the Tuesday, November 7, 2023, Constitutional Amendment & City of Port Aransas Special Election.

The City provides required training and compensation.

City of Port Aransas elections are nonpartisan (no political parties); election workers are asked to refrain from displaying electioneering/advertising materials supporting a particular City candidate on their vehicles or property during early voting and on Election Day.

Qualifications

The precinct election judge must be a qualified voter of the precinct in which the judge serves [EC §32.051(a)]. Election Clerks must be registered voters and reside in the City of Port Aransas to serve as Election Clerks in the City’s elections during Early Voting or on Election Day.

Applicants must complete City-provided elections training before being allowed to serve as a poll worker. Election Clerks serve under the supervision of the City Secretary/Early Election Clerk, the Presiding Election Judge, and the Alternate Election Judge. Failure to follow City, State or Federal election laws will result in termination.

What hours do election judges work?

During Early Voting, poll workers should be available to work in 4hr/12hr shifts for 8-9 days. On Election Day the shift is for approximately 12 hours.

How much will I get paid?

The wages for working at a poll site range between $15.00-$17.00 per hour, depending on the election type and the assigned role (Judge, Alternate Judge and/or Clerk).

Will training be provided?

Yes. Poll workers receive training on the procedures, equipment, documentation and customer service needed for a successful election.
