The Building Department consists of several entities, which include Plan Review, Permitting, Inspections, Flood Plain Management, Fire Safety and Code Enforcement. The Building Department in conjunction with the Planning and Zoning Department help to manage the development and growth of the City by implementing the City's Comprehensive Master Plan.

Through the Plan Review, Permitting and Inspection processes the Building Department ensures that the construction of all residential and commercial structures meet the zoning ordinances, comply with all City Codes and are consistent with the Comprehensive Master Plan.

As the City develops and grows, the Fire Safety Program ensures that all businesses and residential structures are complying with existing fire codes.

The responsibility of the Code Enforcement Office is to enforce City codes and the zoning and health ordinances. This enforcement will help ensure the community enjoys the quality of life style consistent with the rehabilitation, development and growth of the City of Port Aransas.
