Mobile Food Vendors

The City of Port Aransas has updated its ordinances related to mobile food vendors to align with recent changes in Texas state law. These updates ensure the City remains compliant while still maintaining reasonable local standards that protect public health, safety, and quality of life.

The ordinance focuses on where and how mobile food vendors can operate, rather than restricting whether they can operate. It establishes clear guidelines for zoning, parking, trash, noise, and overall site operations.

The new ordinance:

• Allows mobile food vendors to operate in designated zoning districts
• Permits vendors as accessory uses to existing businesses such as hotels and multifamily developments
• Provides a framework for single and multi-vendor food truck sites
• Maintains standards for parking, traffic flow, and on-site customer activity
• Ensures basic operational requirements such as trash containment and noise control
