Everyone –
Ken Paxton, the Texas AG, will be visiting Port Aransas for a political campaigning event on 2/22/22.
His event will be held at the Plantation Conf room, 4-6pm.
Prior to that, he has agreed to a roundtable with City Council if anyone else desires.
Although not a member of the legislature, I think that it would be a good idea to meet with him and possibly discuss some of the issues we face here in Port Aransas – limitation of Hot Tax usage, increasing state limitations on the power of city councils, difficulties with rebuilding 5 years post Harvey.
I have secured a tentative 2-3pm spot; we could do it either at the Plantation before his political rally, or in City Council Chambers.
I’ve already spoken to Dave Parsons about this; we could open to the public as well and would of course have to advertise the meeting.
Thoughts or comments from everyone, and is there sufficient interest?

We can discuss in more detail at the upcoming council meeting. Topics will be provided by the Council to Ken’s office, and all are issues directly impactful to the city on which a Texas State office holder can provide his unique perspective. This is an NON PARTISAN event. Since a quorum of council will be present the meeting will be advertised. City residents will be invited to attend, but to make the most of the limited time there will be no official question/answers other than the AG’s comments on the topics below:
